Training

Outdoor Training

Saturday afternoons meeting at 13:00, April to September are held at Burrs Country Park, Bury BL8 1DA.

We meet at the Burrs Activity Centre car park near the Brown Cow pub between at 13:00 and paddle the Irwell.

Please let us know if you require any paddling equipment there will be a charge for this service of £5 per session.

The Burrs centre includes a number of ideal static and moving water environments for learning to paddle, and full use is made of these on many Saturdays throughout the summer.

To complement this we will also be looking to use the regular Saturday meeting to run other local rivers (within an hour of Burrs) to look for more variety. So please keep an eye out for announcements / events through the Facebook group.  To keep up to date of any last minute changes (usually due to river levels being too high / low to run a club evening).

Pool Sessions

November 2018 to March 2019:

Pool training is an ideal way to learn and improve the basics of canoeing such as strokes, survival and rolling. All these things are better done in the nice warm water so that it is second nature by the time you go outside in the cold.

Pool sessions are held throughout the winter months at The Pelican Centre, Tyldesley M29 8EG.

If bringing your own equipment, please make sure it has been cleaned inside and out and any river water, mud, leaves removed otherwise you will not be allowed in the pool.

Coached sessions are 3.45pm to 4.45pm on alternate Sundays.

When you become a member, you will able to book a place through our Facebook page.
